Born in Verona in 1987, Vittorio Bissaro has been an enthusiastic sailor from a very early age. He embarked on his career as a catamaran helmsman in 2004, first on the Hobie Cat 16 and later on the Formula 18. After transitioning to the latter, he became the most successful Italian catamaran sailor of recent times, being crowned F18 Juniores World Champion in 2010, Hobie Cat Wild Cat European Champion in 2010 and Italian F18 Champion on no less than four occasions. In 2011, Vittorio paired up with Silvia Sicouri aboard a NACRA 17 cat. The duo have since racked up an impressive tally of achievements, not least fifth position in the Rio Olympic Games in 2016, third position in the 2016 World Championships at Clearwater and in the 2015 European Championship in Barcelona, first position in the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Miami in both 2014 and 2015, and victory in the Eurolymp Olympic Garda in 2014 and 2015 at Malcesine.
Vittorio also holds a degree in aerospace engineering from the Politecnico di Milano. His experimental degree thesis centred around wind tunnel testing of downwind sail designs.
