The second race of the Caribbean Multihull Challenge started: off Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten, Maserati Multi 70‘s Team and their two competitors set sail around 9.40 local time (13.40 UTC, 14.40 Italian time), with 20-25 knots of East-North-Easterly wind and gusts up to 30 knots.
Shortly after the start, the 63’ Shockwave had issues with the boom, forcing them to retire from the race, leaving Maserati Multi 70 and Argo to compete for the first place.
The race course, 38 miles long, is a counter-clockwise circumnavigation of the island to Basse-Terre, from where the trimarans will head North crossing the Anguilla Channel to Blowing Rock, then they will head to the finish line off Gran Case, on the French side of the island.
