Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70’s Team are forced to give up the Monaco to Porto Cervo record attempt. Soldini said: «As soon as we set sail from Monaco, a rudder unhooked with 45 knots of wind and big waves. With these conditions it’s too dangerous to put the rudder back into place. We will evaluate whether it’s better to go back to La Spezia or to stop somewhere in between. We will try again as soon as possible!»
The Italian trimaran set sail from Monaco at 22:07:18 local time on March 13th to try beating the record of 7 hours, 53 minutes and 31 seconds, set by Brian Thompson in 2016 aboard MOD70 Phaedo3.
