It’s 9 UTC (11 Italian time), 24 hours after the start, and Maserati Multi 70 is sailing west of Pantelleria, neck and neck with Argo: the American trimaran is first, sailing at 10.6 knots, followed 5 miles behind by the Italian Team, at 11.1 knots.
Soldini commented from aboard: “It’s an incredible fight, we were in the lead until this morning, when we started coming across one storm after the other, with strong squalls followed by no wind at all just 5 minutes later.
The two MOD 70 still have around 200 miles ahead of them: they’re sailing south and will have to pass Lampedusa before heading towards the finish line in Valletta.
