It’s 15 UTC and Maserati Multi 70 is still sailing in the leading group, around 2000 miles from the finish line. The three MOD 70s gybed: PowerPlay in the lead, followed by Argo at around 100 miles of distance and by Maserati Multi 70, 40 more miles behind, are sailing towards south-west.
“We passed the cold front,” said the crew, “now there are 25-30 knots of north-northwesterly wind. We’re in the chase of our competitors, at the moment we’re going at an average speed of 32 knots, with peaks of 38-40 knots: we’re going «a cannamorta»!”
Big comeback by Ultim Emotion 2, forced to a technical stop that slowed down the start but didn’t prevent them from setting sail again, following a more southerly route.
