The 67th edition of the Regata dei Tre Golfi, organised by Circolo Remo e Vela Italia under the patronage of the Italian Sailing Federation and in collaboration with Yacht Club Italiano, Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia, IMA, ORC, UVAI, and AIVE, will start tomorrow, 14 May 2022.
Maserati Multi70 and the other 150 or so yachts entered in the regatta will set off in three staggered fleets (at 18:30 local time the multihulls, at 19:00 the MAXIs, and at 19:30 all the others) from the Santa Lucia roadstead under the walls of Castel dell’Ovo in Naples, and slightly corrected will also be the race courses: 250 miles and buoy at San Marco di Castellabate for the multihulls; classic 150-mile circuit with buoy at Li Galli for the monohulls, and a further reduction for the vintage yachts, which will round Ventotene instead of Ponza. For all, the arrival will be in Capri.
The fleet will sail between the islands of the gulfs of Naples, Gaeta and Sorrento in the natural spectacle of the islands of Procida, Ischia, Ventotene, Ponza and Capri. Racing with Maserati Multi70 will be Riccardo Pavoncelli’s Mana with skipper Paul Larsen.
“Naples is a city with a unique character, where I am always happy to return and in fact the Tre Golfi is a regatta I have already taken part in in the past, but for Maserati Multi70 it is the first time and together with the whole crew we are looking forward to sailing in these wonderful bays, among such extraordinary islands”, commented Giovanni Soldini. The weather conditions meanwhile foretell the prevalence of light winds: “With little air, it will be a slow and above all tactical regatta, we are very happy to have Mana back and as always we will give it our all”.
In this regatta, Giovanni Soldini will be accompanied by a crew of 6 sailors: Guido Broggi, Oliver Herrera Perez, Thomas Joffrin, Francesco Pedol, Alberto Riva, Gianluigi Ugolini.
