Three and a half days. That’s all it took for Maserati Multi70 to sail from La Spezia to Marina Lanzarote in the Canary Islands where she arrived this morning at daybreak.
Both boat and crew are well as skipper Giovanni Soldini happily confirmed as soon as he jumped ashore: “It was a challenging passage because the weather was bad with lots of wind and big swells the whole time. But it was also very useful. The boat got here safe and sound. We now have a few small jobs to do which is normal after so many miles”.
Now able to fly on her portside, Maserati Multi70 managed to test out her flying trim on the ocean waves and the feedback was positive: “The conditions weren’t ideal for flying apart from this morning when we were just getting in. But we took full advantage to see how it worked and what kind of stability it delivers. We flew in 16 knots of wind and went really well on the ocean waves,” explained Soldini.
Maserati Multi70’s had an eight-man crew for her passage: the same team skippered by Giovanni Soldini that will cast off on November 26 in the RORC Transatlantic Race plus Vittorio Bissaro, the Italian Nacra 17 champion, who was a special guest aboard the trimaran this time out.
