Giovanni Soldini’s crew on the Italian flying ocean going trimaran MaseratiMulti70 have taken the lead in the multihull class in the 2017 Transpacific Yacht Race after 26 hours of racing along the 2,225-mile Pacific Ocean course from Los Angeles to Honolulu.
In a call from the boat Soldini said the crew were tired but happy with the race so far.
“We are a bit weary because we had a tough night,” Soldini said. “We had to push hard to get past Mighty Merloe and it has been very wet on deck since we found the trade winds. Merloe is a very light boat and she has been going very well since the start. It’s nice to be ahead.”
