Maserati Multi 70 is sailing off the coast of Angola and continues its route towards North following an original option to cross the Equator (about 800 miles away) and enter the North Atlantic.
Instead of aiming to cross the Equator around 25°W, as usual, Giovanni Soldini and his crew have chosen to sail along the coasts of Africa and pass the notorious doldrums between 5 and 10°W.
At the 18.00 UTC rankings Maserati Multi 70 has a 1726 nautical miles lead over the record holder and is missing 4437 miles to the finish line.
