This morning at 09:13:40 GMT (11:13:40 GMT) Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70’s Team crossed the starting line off Cowes to conquer the Channel Record. The Italian trimaran will have to arrive to the finish line off Dinard, 138 miles ahead, before 14:02:37 GMT to beat the time set by Phaedo3 (4 hours, 48 minutes and 57 seconds, with an average speed of 28,66 knots).
Maserati Multi 70 is not only racing against the clock, but is also competing in a high speed duel with Peter Cunningham’s MOD 70 PowerPlay, who set sail to attempt the same record just a few moments earlier.
Aboard Maserati Multi 70 with Giovanni Soldini are: Ambrogio Beccaria, Vittorio Bissaro, Guido Broggi, François Robert, Carlos Hernandez Robayna and Matteo Soldini.
