Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70’s Team arrived today July 14th in La Spezia, after crossing the Atlantic Ocean. They set sail from Pointe-à-Pitre, in Guadeloupe, on July 1st and covered 4000 miles in 13 days. Soldini commented: «With the arrival in La Spezia Maserati Multi 70 completed its second trip around the world, now important news lay ahead of us!»
Maserati Multi 70 is sailing again: Giovanni Soldini and his Team are sailing across the Atlantic Ocean to bring the trimaran back to Porto Mirabello, in La Spezia.
Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70 arrived in Fort Charlotte, Antigua, at 11.10 21” local time (15.10 UTC, 16.10 Italian time) on Wednesday February 26th, finishing the 12th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 in third place, with an elapsed time of 1 day, 23 hours, 40 minutes and 21 seconds.
At 11.10 17” local time (15.10 UTC, 16.10 Italian time) on Wednesday February 26th, Maserati Multi 70 crossed the finish line of the RORC Caribbean 600, off Fort Charlotte, Antigua. Giovanni Soldini and his crew finished the race with an elapsed time of 1 day, 23 hours, 40 minutes and 17 seconds. The Italian Team arrived third in elapsed time: Peter Cunningham’s PowerPlay, crossed the finish line at 9.21 34” local time (13.21 UTC, 14.21 Italian time), with an elapsed time of 1 day, 21 hours, 51 minutes and 34 seconds, followed by the American Argo, skippered by Jason Carroll, at 9.25 40” local time (13.25 UTC, 14.25 Italian time), with an elapsed time of 1 day, 21 hours, 55 minutes and 40 seconds.
At 10 UTC, Maserati Multi 70 cleared the mark off Barbuda and is sailing in third place at 26 knots: there are 74 miles between the Italian Team and the finish line in Antigua.
Argo and PowerPlay are sailing at close distance between each other, around 25 miles ahead, between 23 and 25 knots of speed.
At 22 UTC Maserati Multi 70 is sailing sode by side with Argo and PowerPlay West of Guadeloupe, where the wind is very light.
Maserati Multi 70‘s Team reached Saint Martin, the island further North of the 600-mile race course. After rounding the island, the Italian trimaran will head South towards Guadeloupe.
At 8.30 UTC the three 70′ trimarans are sailing towards Saint Barth leading the fleet of 73 boats that set sail yesterday from Fort Charlotte for the RORC Caribbean 600, less than 5 miles apart.
