A little more than two days after the start of the Transpac, Maserati Multi 70‘s Team is going on on its course towards Honolulu on the wake of its competitors, Argo and PowerPlay.
At 4.30 UTC, Maserati Multi 70, while sailing at 23-24 knots, collided with a big floating object that damaged the left side hull’s bow and the rudder’s wing.
At 21.00 UTC on Sunday July 14th, after a slow first day with light wind, Maserati Multi 70 is sailing in the trade wind at an average speed of 27 knots, with full main and gennaker.
At 9.30 UTC, 14 hours after setting sail from Los Angeles, Maserati Multi 70 is still sailing inside the depression, with light wind between 3 and 6 knots.
Giovanni Soldini explains from aboard: “We decided to sail further North of our competitors, to get out as soon as possible of the bubble of light wind that separates us from the trade wind, steadier and stronger. At the moment we’re still in the low pressure zone, but the wind could come in any moment.”
