At 20.49 00” on Tuesday February 19^th local time (00.49 00” on Wednesday February 20^th UTC) Maserati Multi 70 crossed first the finish line of the 11^th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600, organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, winning Line Honours Multihulls and setting the new race record. After racing neck and neck with American MOD 70 Argo for the last 30 miles, Maserati Multi 70 finished the race with an elapsed time of 1 day, 6 hours, 49 minutes and 0 seconds. Argo crosses the finish line at 20.56 04” local time, 7 minutes after Maserati Multi 70.

This morning (local time) Maserati Multi 70 suffered a quite significant damage: the torsional cable zip socket of the solent (the main headsail) broke down.

Giovanni Soldini explains from aboard: “We haven’t been able to use the solent for a few hours. With strong wind and big waves it’s a big mess, but we’re working on it and we think we can make a makeshift repair”.

Giovanni Soldini and his crew are less than 200 miles away from the finish line of the RORC Caribbean 600.

According to the tracking, at 9.30 local time (13.30 UTC), Maserati Multi 70 is tacking sailing clause-hauled at 20 knots, South of Guadeloupe, followed by Argo 9 miles behind.

Maserati Multi 70 reached Les Saintes islands, South of Guadeloupe, today at 7.45 local time (11.45 UTC). Giovanni Soldini’s Team is still in the lead, 15 miles ahead American MOD 70 Argo.

At 6 local time (10 UTC), Maserati Multi 70 and Giovanni Soldini are flying in first place, West of Guadeloupe, at a speed of 26 knots, less than 300 miles from the finish line.

Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70 set off for the 11^th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 today at 14.00 local time (18.00 UTC and 19.00 Italian time). The race organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club and has a 600-mile course around 11 islands in the Lesser Antilles, in the Caribbean.

Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70’s Team agreed to Team Argo’s request to postpone the start of the RORC Caribbean 600.

The new start time will be at 14.00 local time (18.00 UTC and 19.00 Italian time) to allow the American Team to finish the repair work after they capsized during the Antigua 360 Race last Friday.

The 11^th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600, organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, will start tomorrow, Monday February 18^th, at 11.00 local time (15.00 UTC and 16.00 Italian time). Alongside Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70, which is racing in flying mode, more than 700 sailors from all around the world and yachts from over 20 nations will participate in the 600-mile-long race around 11 islands in the Lesser Antilles, in the Caribbean.

American MOD 70 Argo capsized South of Antigua, the crew is safe.

Argo and Maserati Multi 70 were racing around Antigua, in the Caribbean, to train for the RORC Caribbean 600, when the wind suddenly got stronger.

Giovanni Soldini said: «The weather kept changing: this morning there were 26 knots gusts, then we had light aft wind for the whole afternoon, around 10-12 knots. All of sudden a squall came with 25-27 knots of wind. They were caught off guard somehoe and they capsized not far from us».
