Maserati Multi70 and Giovanni Soldini have landed in Antigua, where on Monday 20th February will start the 14th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600, the Caribbean sporting event promoted by the Royal Ocean Racing Club.
The trident team is leaving behind a yard promptly set up in Guadeloupe to repair the dinghy section damaged by an accident that occurred on board during the RORC Transatlantic Race in January, which the trimaran won, setting a new regatta speed record in 5 days, 5 hours, 46 minutes and 26 seconds.
With just a few hours to go before the start of the new challenge, the fleet of more than 70 yachts will gather in Antigua on Monday 20 February at 11.30 am local time (3.30 pm UTC, 4.30 pm in Italy) to start the 600-mile race that will sail around 11 islands in the eastern Caribbean, heading north from Antigua to St Martin, then south to Guadeloupe, touching on Barbuda, Nevis, St Kitts, Saba and St Barth.
Among the multihulls competing in the MOCRA class, there are two MOD 70s that will compete directly in this edition: Zoulou (FRA) with Loick Peyron and Erik Maris at the helm, and Giovanni Soldini’s Maserati Multi70 (ITA).
Maserati Multi70 is participating in the RORC Caribbean 600 for the fifth time after having raced the 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2022 editions.
The crew that will accompany Giovanni Soldini is made up of 7 experienced sailors: Guido Broggi (ITA), Oliver Herrera Perez (ESP), Thomas Joffrin (FRA), Francesco Pedol (ITA), Alberto Riva (ITA), Matteo Soldini (ITA), Lucas Valenza-Troubat (FRA).
