Giovanni Soldini and his crew are less than 200 miles away from the finish line of the RORC Caribbean 600.
According to the tracking, at 9.30 local time (13.30 UTC), Maserati Multi 70 is tacking sailing clause-hauled at 20 knots, South of Guadeloupe, followed by Argo 9 miles behind.
Vittorio Malingri, expert ocean sailor, explains: “Now they’re South of Guadeloupe, that leg to La Désirade is quite difficult because the wind is not stable. If they were to stop, Argo could locate the spot where there’s no wind and avoid it, gaining miles. Once they round the island, they will head North-West. On the next two legs, the one to Barbuda and the one to Redonda, they should be able to fly well on broad reach and gain more advantage over Argo. Then they will only have the last close-hauled leg left before the finish line!”
