Maserati Multi70 is back on the water in Honolulu, after detailed maintenance and control works in Hawaii Yacht Club’s base. The damages on the right side starboard hull have been repaired: the collision with an unidentified floating object during the Transpac from Los Angeles to Hawaii not only damaged the rudder but also pierced some holes in the hull that have now been fixed. During this maintenance period, special care was given to the dagger boards, the foils, the mechanical parts and the furling sails, which need to be controlled regularly. During the inspections a cracked aluminium piece was found and replaced. This piece was inside the mast, that was disassembled during these past weeks, to be closely examined after so many miles of navigation.
Since yesterday Maserati Multi70 is on the water, among the Honolulu’s skyscrapers. The Team is now busy with reassembling every piece to start sailing again on Wednesday. Many tests need to be done before setting out towards Japan and then towards the new record, the Tea Route from Hong Kong to London.
