The delivery to Cape Town continues for Giovanni Soldini and his crew aboard Maserati Multi 70.
Today at 8 UTC the Italian Team was sailing East of Madagascar, dealing with rough sea. Giovanni Soldini explains: “We’re sailing with 18/20 knots of wind, with very long waves from South West, up to 7 meters high. The boat is bouncing on the waves and we slowed down a little.
After a few days’ stop, today at 6 UTC Maserati Multi 70 set sail from Singapore and is heading to Cape Town.
“We’re heading South, towards the Sunda Strait,” says Giovanni Soldini. “The wind is very light, it will be a challenging leg, but once we pass the Strait, we should find a stable wind to Madagascar.”
After the Royal Hong Kong Nha Trang Rally, Maserati Multi 70‘s Team set sail towards Singapore.
At 8.30 UTC, Giovanni Soldini explains: “We’re painfully sailing through the doldrums, the area North of the Equator with very light and variable wind. We probably will have to suffer for a couple more days, then a more stable Southeasterly wind should arrive.”
At 21.59 12” on Thursday October 17th local time (14.59 UTC, 16.59 Italian time), Maserati Multi 70 crossed the finish line of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Nha Trang Rally (ex Hong Kong to Vietnam Race) off Nha Trang, Vietnam. Giovanni Soldini and his Team completed the race with an elapsed time of 1 day, 7 hours, 49 minutes and 12 seconds.
At 21.57 on Thursday October 17th local time (14.57 UTC, 16.57 Italian time), Maserati Multi 70 crossed the finish line of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Nha Trang Rally (ex Hong Kong to Vietnam Race) off Nha Trang, Vietnam. Giovanni Soldini and his Team completed the race with an elapsed time of 1 day, 7 hours and 47 minutes (the official time is yet to be confirmed by the race’s organization).
SHK Scallywag Fuku, skippered by David Witt, Maserati Multi 70‘s direct competitor, crossed the finish line of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Nha Trang Rally.
At 14.30 local time (6.30 UTC, 8.30 Italian time), Maserati Multi 70‘s Team is sailing at 27 knots, 142 miles away from the finish line of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Nha Trang Rally (ex Hong Kong to Vietnam Race), followed closely behind by Hong Kong-based Orma 60 SHK Scallywag Fuku, sailing at 24 knots.
At 2.30 on Thursday October 17th local time (on October 16th at 18.30 UTC, 20.30 Italian time), 425 miles away from the finish line in Nha Trang, Maserati Multi 70 took the lead of the fleet that set sail today from Hong Kong.
